Biography Kalima

Sascha Ley
likes walking along unconventional paths in her musical output both as a composer and a vocalist. Jazz, free improvisation, imaginary folklore and occasional flirts with contemporary music inspire her very individual style and distinctive expressive voice.

Laia Genc
shows a very powerful touch in both playing and composing. Hubert Nuss and John Taylor have encouraged her in developing her personal style far-off from the mainstream, and shaped her sensibility for sound and melodic colours at the Jazz School Cologne.

Anne Kaftan
a former student of Charlie Mariano, has an appealing stylistic approach to music, moving from classical music to experimental pop. Next to other projects, her collaboration with Sascha started in 2006 with the recording of the album Travelling Light.
