Henri Demarquette
a passionate musician with a multi-faceted personality, plays the cello like someone who sets fire to a dense forest: no stroke of the bow leaves the listener indifferent, because Demarquette awakens the subconscious of music’. O. Bellamy (Le Monde de la Musique)
Henri Demarquette was admitted to the Paris Conservatoire at the age of 13, where he studied with Philippe Muller and Maurice Gendron and was awarded a Premier Prix à l'unanimité. He also worked with Pierre Fournier and Paul Tortelier and then with Janos Starker in Bloomington, USA.
He quickly developed an international career that took him to many major cities, where he performed alongside the great French and foreign orchestras or his favourite piano partners: Boris Berezovsky, Michel Dalberto, Jean-Bernard Pommier, Fabrizio Chiovetta, Vanessa Benelli-Mosell and Jean-Frédéric Neuburger.
