Info for Minimal Distance
"The idea behind Minimal Distance is to bring the listener closer to the source that I believe music comes from. During the recording I relied mostly on intuition and avoided following prepared compositional ideas, but I didn’t try to hide the fact that these sounds were made by a human being based on personal memories and taste. It was important for me to be present in all the stages of shaping the sound and appearance of this album in order to produce something pure and honest. The instruments heard on this record are part of a setup on which I have performed almost exclusively for the past few years: a drum set equipped with animal skins, which are very much dependent on weather conditions, and an electroacoustic tool that I named gong synth – an analog synthesizer that uses a wind gong as its main sound source."
