Info for Treasure Hunt
With his new album "Treasure Hunt" Tomas Sauter once again confirms his reputation as a sovereign, tasteful leader. As an experienced producer, he has been amazing for years with his intuition for the best way to realize his own compositional intentions.
Sauter's densely woven sound fabric turns out to be a finely chiseled labyrinthine mosaic, in which one can easily lose oneself. The music entices you to let your imagination run free and to drift away in your thoughts. One wanders off, dives into remote worlds, in order to rediscover familiar things in the other from time to time. It's not for nothing that homesickness and wanderlust are sometimes close to each other. This hovering between near and far becomes clearly noticeable on "Treasure Hunt". The music full of energy, elegance and emotion evokes strong images, fiery desire and carries the listener away from the first note.
The magic of such a momentary art makes everything seem so simple and self-evident. The creative combination plays the multifaceted repertoire from the pen of the inspiring leader as if in a frenzy, lustfully and at the same time. Sauter's preference for intricate forms and tricky beats, the high artistic standards, the rhapsodic suite character and the intricate harmonic architecture of his compositions are easily forgotten in the midst of so much exhilarating joy of playing.
The music of this extraordinary quintet is full of life: "Treasure Hunt" goes straight to the heart. When intricate compositions like "Treasure Hunt" or "Wanderlustk" come across as completely organic, light and airy, it not only touches the soul - it is also simply Contemporary Jazz at its Best!
