Info zu Maybe It Was All For This
The former Walking on Cars frontman has crafted an album of beauty, channelling his raw talent and true authenticity. It dives into the moments and memories of Pa’s late teenage years until now, growing up in a small town of Dingle in Kerry.
Forged in the West Coast of Ireland Pa Sheehy collaborated on the production with some of his good friends, which was unchartered territory and an exciting step in the creation of his debut record. ‘Maybe It Was All For This’ is a collection of 14 tracks, it sees the artist create a spectrum of feelings from nostalgia, sadness, excitement to euphoria.
From tracks such as ‘Ghost Down The Lane’ to ballad anthemic building ‘Wretched’ and the reminisce yet up tempo ‘The Night The School Burnt Down’.
Speaking about the album Pa said, “Maybe It Was All For This’, I hope this album helps people feel something, I wanted to make something completely expressive. Each song has its own needs and this to me makes it feel like a journey”.
“I’ve fallen in love with so many artists over the last few years that I don’t know what genre this fits into, but maybe not knowing is what lead us to the magic found along the way. Any reasonable amount of time and energy went completely out the window in the making of it and ultimately I’m happy to say that I’ve made something that is completely an unapologetically me.”
Since emerging from the Irish chart topping band Walking on Cars, Pa Sheehy has crafted a work of reflection, a personal introvert diary. A lot of the songs on the record have some kind of fight going on, whether it’s a fight for meaning, or just a way of being in the world. An underdog scrap for acceptance. Coupled with his distinctive vocals and guitars riffs weaved throughout these cleverly written tracks, it’s clear to see that this record shows an artist at the peak of his powers.
“Accepting myself, my life, people and accepting that life never stays the same, what is now is only like this for a short period and then it all moves again," Pa Sheehy continues.
"A collection of fourteen tracks, the album particularly captures the Dingle peninsula, the area in which Sheehy grew up and still resides. Melodic soundscapes enrapture the listener, and honest lyrics tell stories of friends, turbulent times and creativity as a vital life source. ‘I’m a loser but I’m not lost’ opens the song ‘Loser’, which acts as a diary entry in the search for self-acceptance.
The aim of this debut album for Sheehy is to encourage people to feel something. To understand a part of themselves that they had previously suppressed and to emerge ultimately, a little more understood.
‘Ghost Down The Lane’ and ‘The Night The School Burnt Down’ stand out as highlights of the album. Raw and pared back, they are tunes that evoke a sense of belonging in the turbulence of life. A dreamy interlude breaks up the album, breathing a sense of pause into the fourteen-track record.
An album of connection, lost friends and ultimately hope, it emerges self-assured after a turbulent journey through emotion and life experiences. Pa Sheehy has found his sound and, more than that, has created an album with the power to truly connect." (Goldenplec.com)

Pa Sheehy
Indie folk singer Pa Sheehy recently released his EP titled "Lost In A '90s Arcade," which has caught the attention of many new fans around the globe. Off the back of its success he has secured slots at various major festivals across Europe, including a recent invitation to support Bruce Springsteen at Hyde Park. Earlier this year, he made his solo debut on Other Voices, sharing the stage with Paolo Nutini and Inhaler. He is becoming a house hold name in Ireland and his following is steadily growing around mainland Europe.
With his unique folk-inspired sound, Sheehy continues to captivate listeners, showcasing a smoother vocal approach compared to his usual raspy tone. He sees this as a new chapter, stating that it feels like the "beginning of something that is completely me."
After spending the past three years “figuring it all out” he believes it's time to share these songs with the world. He plans to embark on a winter tour around Europe later this year followed by his debut LP in 2023.
