Info for Apricity

Syd Arthur are a four piece band from Canterbury, England, comprised of Liam and Joel Magill, Fred Rother and Raven Bush. The band's name is taken from the Hermann Hesse novel Siddhartha, with the spelling changed reportedly as a nod to the influences of Syd Barrett and Arthur Lee. The band's sound draws comparisons with modern contemporaries like Wolf People, Black Mountain, Tame Impala - with dazzling musicianship and inventive lyrics, melodies and occasionally time signatures. Their previous release 'Sound Mirror' was released on Harvest in 2014 (with previous albums and EPs self-released).

Syd Arthur
is brothers Liam Magill, Joel Magill (bass, vocals), and Josh Magill (drums) and Raven Bush (violin, keyboards, mandolin). Hailing from Canterbury and nourished by a steady diet of psych, garage, folk and indie, the band has toured with and supported acts such as The Strokes, White Denim, Jonathan Wilson, The Pixies, Sean Lennon’s The Ghost Of A Sabertooth Tiger and Paul Weller. Syd Arthur’s unabashed spirit of adventure captured the imagination of fellow sonic explorers Amorphous Androgynous, who remixed and released a selection of Syd Arthur tracks in 2014. The band have just finished a tour with Jake Bugg in the US and a UK tour with White Denim. Earlier this year they headlined London’s Electrowerkz and performed at Glastonbury Festival and Bushstock in the UK.
