Info for Abstract
A multidimensional project, backed by the producer Co.Lega. It was he who combined jazz sounds and created samples that we hear on the album. He added a moody chillout and the sensual vocals of Silke, who sings Co.Lega's poetry. Each of the tracks is a question about the modern world. Will a bionic heart help us love what we don't accept? How do we feel the Absence of Doubts if we simply don't have any? Both music and doubts are felt in the body, but what does Computer Boy feel, who has reduced his senses to interfacing with a monitor? This international mix of creators, themes, and questions from which this album was born would not be complete without the jazz sound, that is, samples from Urbanator's work. Michal Urbaniak, the creator of fusion who pioneeringly combined genres and creators, was a great inspiration for creating this album, which is why the chosen title has two meanings: the first is abstraction, in which the listener must search for important meanings for themselves through their own experiences, and the second is abstract, that is, a summary/retrospective through Michal's work, aka Urbzz, hence the name Co.Lega infused by Urbzz.
Co.Lega
is the genre-defying music producer and songwriter behind an exciting new multidimensional project. He made his debut in March with the experimental trip-hop groove “Lay my love on everything”. That track introduced the groundbreaking new collection, ‘infused by Urbzz’, a sci-fi/hip-hop/jazz project built on the original compositions of fusion pioneer Michal Urbaniak.
Michal Urbaniak (aka Urbzz) is a legendary multi-instrumentalist jazz musician, originally from Poland and now a US citizen and New Yorker. In a career spanning more than fifty years, he has played with a voluminous list of modern jazz giants, including Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Qunicy Jones, Wayne Shorter, and even the iconic Miles Davis. CoLega’s new album Abstract was composed entirely of derivative works created from samples of music composed by his longtime friend, Urbzz.
“Urbanator the computer boy” is the latest single from Co.Lega, released worldwide via all major streaming services on June 30, 2023. The track opens on a noir abstract jazz vibe as Urbaniak’s saxophone dances to a funky jazz-hop/glitch groove. Bass, vibraphone, trumpet, and a syncopated mix of electronic and organic percussive elements all work their way in and out of the mix. On the mic, vocalist Silke continues the philosophical examination of man’s relationship with technology that is the central theme of Abstract.
