Info for Live Magic At Trading Boundaries

Steve Hackett’s annual performances at Trading Boundaries, in Sussex, UK have become something of a tradition for the legendary guitarist in recent years. Presenting stripped down material, and showcasing his acclaimed classical compositions, with a line-up including John Hackett, Roger King, Amanda Lehmann & Rob Townsend, ‘Live Magic At Trading Boundaries’ presents 17 tracks taken from a selection of Steve’s performances at the venue. Music includes Genesis classics like ‘Horizons’ & ‘Blood On The Rooftops’, as well as classic solo & classical material such as ‘Black Light’, ‘Jacuzzi’, ‘The Journey’ & much more.

On 17 tracks, Steve explores different facets of his repertoire, including Genesis classics like ‘Blood On The Rooftops’ and ‘Horizons’, stripped down solo material like ‘Ace Of Wands’ and ‘Hands Of The Priestess’ as well as magical interpretations of his much-acclaimed classic tracks like ‘Black Light’ and ‘The Journey’. The result is an album that shows a completely different side of his playing: ‘Somehow you can feel the special atmosphere through the sound of the music on this new live album, which is a complete contrast to my live rock shows.’

‘I love the delicate, dreamlike quality of this show, with John and Rob playing beautifully together on flute and saxophone, interspersed with surprising moments of power, such as the point where Roger's keys become the sound of a full-blown pipe organ!’ The album also includes two performances of tracks from Amanda Lehmann's latest solo album ‘Innocence and Illusion’, ‘Amanda's lovely vocals in her own captivating songs also provide a special contrast.’

Steve Hackett

Steve Hackett
is renowned as an immensely talented and innovative rock musician. He was lead guitarist with Genesis as part of their classic line up with Gabriel, Collins, Banks and Rutherford, who produced several of the band’s most acclaimed albums including Selling England by the Pound (a favourite of John Lennon) and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. With Steve's extraordinary versatility in both his electric guitar playing and his composing, he involves influences from many genres, including Jazz, World Music and Blues. He is equally adept in his classical albums that include renditions of pieces by composers from Bach to Satie, his own acoustic guitar compositions that have gained the admiration of many, including Yehudi Menuhin, and ambitious guitar/orchestra albums such as A Midsummer Night's Dream, recorded with the Royal Philharmonic.
