Info for Nur MICH

The actress and singer Anna Maria Sturm and the bassist and composer Sven Faller Songs write songs that are lyrically deeply personal and musically somewhere between pop, jazz, new wave and chanson. After the success of the first single “Er Falls” they recorded the album “Nur Mich” with Peter Gall on drums and Nicola Andrioli on piano.

Anna Maria Sturm is Anna Maria Sturm's most personal musical project to date - she sings her own lyrics in German, English and French for the first time to Sven Faller's compositions - a project close to her heart.

“…And it falls, falls, falls!” Rain as a friend, as a welcomed companion, as a cleanser. There is rarely a more beautiful song in pop that sings about the rain and the feeling of being a raindrop yourself. “Only me” is what Anna Maria Sturm calls this heartfelt confession with which the singer and actress’s new album of the same name ends. It will be released on January 26th and will be available on all major platforms. “Only me” The Schwandorfer and her new band Sturm are celebrating the release on the renowned Munich label Enja Records with two concerts. In the afternoon she sings in Germering and that same evening she can be seen on the evening show on BR television. “Only Me” is Sturm’s most personal musical project to date. It is primarily characterized by the impressions that the difficult Corona years left on the artist. “I worked in a printing company at the time,” she explains about her strategy of being left without work, orders or income from one day to the next. “Sometimes I was really desperate, didn’t know what to do next and hated everything and myself most of all.” With loud force right into the middle of these fears, ... Anna Maria Sturm
Actor and singer Anna Maria Sturm was born in Regensburg in 1982 and first studied pharmacy before completing her acting training at the renowned Otto Falkenberg School in Munich in 2007.

Even back as a student, Anna Maria appeared on stage numerous times at the Münchner Kammerspiele, which consequently became her first artistic home.

Her most significant and favourite collaboration was with director Susanne Kennedy, with whom she worked on the play "Purgatory in Ingolstadt" (2013) and "Why Does Herr R. Amok?" (2015). Both productions were invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen. Later works with Kennedy included “Orfeo” (2017) for the festival “Ruhrtriennale” or “Women in trouble”(2018) at the Volksbühne Berlin.

In 2021 and 2022 she sang and performed the lead role “Agnes Bernauer” in Carl Orff´ s “Die Bernauerin” for the ORFF FESTSPIELE in Andechs/Bavaria. Starting September 2023, she will be performing the role of “Sally Bowles” in the famous musical “Cabaret” at Staatstheater Leipzig.

Anna Maria Sturm began her film career in parallel with her theatre work while still at acting school. She was cast in the leading role of film trilogy: Good Times (Beste Zeit, 2007), Best Region (Beste Gegend, 2008) “Best Chance” (Beste Chance, 2014) by the popular Bavarian director Marcus H. Rosenmüller. This was soon followed by other television roles, the most famous of which being the role of the young commissioner, Anna Burnhauser, alongside Matthias Brandt in the crime series "Police Call 110" (Polizeiruf 110) until 2013.

Her first musical appearances also began during her time at acting school: she sang at festivals and award ceremonies for a wide audience and soon developed a fascination with both classical music and jazz. During this period, she began the fruitful collaboration with saxophonist and composer Wanja Slavin. She performed musical reading evenings with Wanja before founding the “Anna Maria Sturm Quintet” in 2014 and recording her first jazz album, Tales of Woe. Anna Maria Sturm continued to devote herself intensively to music while working as an actor and founded the trio “Love&Lost” in 2016.

In January 2024, Anna Maria will bring out a new album with her band STURM on ENJA RECORDS.

That brand new project was founded together with Sven Faller, a German composer and bass player.

She currently lives in Berlin and on the countryside in Bavaria.
