Info for It's Okay to Dream

Bob Baldwin's It's Okay to Dream features two vibrant tracks from Mozambique's own Jimmy Dludlu. This collection masterfully blends funky, jazzy, AfroPop elements with contemporary and smooth jazz vibes.

Conceived between 2020 and 2023, during a time when the world was in lockdown and introspection was inevitable, Bob Baldwin's It's Okay to Dream encapsulates the contemplative spirit of those years. The absence of "outside noise" during the pandemic allowed the pianist to create music that is both inspiring and uplifting, offering a reprieve from the daily grind and the constant barrage of negativity. This album encourages listeners to gaze at the stars and imagine a different, more positive world.

Bob Baldwin, an accomplished American pianist, composer, arranger, radio host, and inventor, hails from Mt. Vernon, NY. His impressive career has seen him perform across six of the seven continents, with notable gigs in places like Dubai, Brazil, South Africa, Spain, the UK, and Canada. Despite not planning to record in Antarctica, Baldwin's international presence is noteworthy. He passionately believes in delivering great music and a top-notch experience, whether performing for a festival crowd of 30,000 or an intimate audience of fewer than 60. "I refuse to rob my audience of great music, top-notch effort, and a good personal experience," Baldwin asserts.

While jazz and R&B have been constants throughout his solo recording career ever since his 1988 debut album, “Long Way to Go,” Baldwin has also recorded Brazilian jazz albums (“The Brazilian-American Soundtrack” and “Brazil Chill”) as well as entire collections devoted to reimagining the music of The Beatles (“Bob Baldwin presents Abbey Road and the Beatles”), Thom Bell (“Betcha By Golly Wow”), Wonder (“MelloWonder: Songs in the Key of Stevie”), and Jackson (“Never Can Say Goodbye”). As a producer and songwriter, Baldwin has shaped Billboard hits and album cuts by Regina Carter, The Four Tops, Grover Washington Jr., Richard Elliot, Paul Brown, Marion Meadows, Ragan Whiteside, Will Downing and Freddie Jackson. Since 2008, Baldwin has hosted and produced a nationally syndicated radio show titled NewUrbanJazz Radio. He’s also the author of “You Better Ask Somebody! Staying On Top Of Your Career in the Friggin’ Music Business” and is working on the second edition that will address the nuances of music streaming.

Bob Baldwin
New York native Bob Baldwin has recorded on six of the seven inhabitable continents, and while Antarctica is not on his recording bucket list, his international list, including Dubai, Brazil, South Africa, Spain, UK, Canada, is quite impressive. "Whether it's a crowd of 30,000 or a small restaurant of 60, I refuse to rob my audience of great music and a good experience", says Baldwin.

His 'theme' projects of Stevie Wonder, Thom Bell and Michael Jackson have all charted mightily on the Billboard Jazz charts, all hitting in the top 15.

His latest releases "Never Can Say Goodbye" and "Never out Of Season", were both remixed and remastered in the spirit of hi-def. Whereas older recordings would peak at the average 16-bit maximum, Bob is trying to push the envelope in re-tracking some of the music in 24-bit (and sometimes 32-bit mode).

What's next? Well...funny you should ask. Bob Baldwin will be releasing another cool theme project of a very special music group...stay tuned.

The Brazilian-American Soundtrack (2016) was his 22nd disc, and is a fantastic journey through Rio, Ipanema Beach, Atlanta and New York City and showcases original music, plus music from legendary writers and artists like Djavan, Ivan Lins and Antonio Carlos Jobim.

Also, check out his 23rd disc, "The Gift of Christmas", featuring Marcus Anderson and Corvina Nielsen, released in 2016.
