Living to play about it: Martin Dahanukar's tunes tell of intense moments in life. Explosive drummer Peter Horisberger provides the heartbeats, while Mike Haudenschild on keyboards opens up groovy, impressionistic space for glowing trumpet cries. Sound with a touch of film noir.

It is echoed in the title of the new album. ‘Morpho’ harbours transformation.

Several sources feed the music on ‘Morpho’, which is the result of an alchemical process of transforming jazz, electro, funky R&B, psychedelia, Far Eastern timbres and so on. Carried by an underlying restlessness, the sound also breathes airy space.

‘Morpho’ has many faces: sometimes sec, sometimes chilled-cool, then again lively and full of unexpected twists. Glowing melodies float above seductive basslines - surrounded by impressionistic garlands. The heartbeats of the drums lend the silky moods crisp counterpoints.

‘Morpho’ is a seismograph of life and hustle and bustle on the street. The sound touches on the spheres of hypersensitivity - whose strength is rooted in vulnerability - and hints at longing and love. The sound on Morpho is infectious and leaves no one indifferent.

Melodies fill the night air. The band around trumpeter Trompeter Martin Dahanukar plays rare classics, latinesque pearsl but as well originals of dream-like touch. The earthy drive is provided by percussionist Willy Kotoun and bassist Philipp Moll. Tense and mysterous trumpet tones float above the sound of a congenial rhythm group, completed by lyric pianist youngster Michael Haudenschild.

The band’s poetic »images« create an emotionally charged atmosphere, whose suspense recalls stills of the Nouvelle Vague.
