Info for Electric Dusk
Leon Thomas has been prepping fans for his debut album for over a year, but he’s been working toward this moment all his life. Now the time has finally come for the singer, songwriter, producer and actor to drop his album Electric Dusk on Friday, August 18th. To get everyone ready for the release, he’s unveiled more details about the project and the “Breaking Point (Remix)” featuring Victoria Monét.
The Power of Patience: Through the 12 songs on Electric Dusk, Leon Thomas recruits features from Benny Butcher, Ty Dolla Sign, and Victoria Monét. Benny The Butcher appears on the album’s lead single, “X-Rated” while Ty Dolla Sign, who created the EZMNY Records imprint that Thomas is signed to, is featured on “Love Jones.” Lastly, Victoria Monét contributed to a remix of “Breaking Point,” a stand-out single from the album.
Thomas named Electric Dusk after the longest-running drive-in theatre in Los Angeles, and according to a press release, it’s the part-time thespian’s “love letter to film in addition to the trials and tribulations” he has encountered in recent years. The 12-track album features all four singles – “X-Rated” with Benny The Butcher, “Love Jones” with Ty Dolla $ign, “Breaking Point” and “Crash & Burn” – and the new remix.
Leon and Victoria’s “Breaking Point (Remix)” builds on the emotion of the original. Now a duet, both artists share their poetic side of the relationship’s demise. His verses remain intact while she comes through with a fresh second verse. The lyric, “By now we know we are both past the point of healing,” encapsulates her feelings about their situation. Although they may be on the outs, their voices blend beautifully together to create another masterpiece.

From starring on hit television series to producing #1 albums with the biggest artist in music, actor and Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Leon Thomas has become one of the most watched multi-hyphenate talents in the entertainment industry today.
In recent years Leon has worked with artists like Ariana Grande, Snoh Aalegra, Kodak Black, and more. In 2021 Leon found himself contributing his production skills to one of the most important albums in the last ten years, Drake’s globally chart-topping album Certified Lover Boy. With writing and production credits that included “Pipe Down,” “Love All” featuring Jay-Z, and “In the Bible” featuring Lil Durk and Givēon, Leon’s unique sound and writing wizardry can now be found up and down the Billboard charts.
“It’s been an amazing collaborative process working with a lot of my co-producers and people I’ve been building with for years on just a huge win like this,” says Leon about his role on an album. “Seeing him take nine slots out of the top 10 was historical, and to be a part of that is a blessing.”
Born in Brooklyn and raised by his vocalist mother, opera-singing grandfather, and stepfather who played guitar for B.B. King, Thomas’ musical career began early. He appeared as Young Simba on Broadway’s The Lion King at 10 years old and began working with Nickelodeon at 13, voicing The Backyardigans character Tyrone and eventually starring in Victorious for the sho21ww’s entire run. Thomas signed a deal with Columbia Records while he was still on the show, as did many other cast members, which led to him being under the tutelage of legendary producer Babyface. Although he won his first Grammy for writing credits on Face and Toni Braxton’s 2014 joint album Love, Marriage, & Divorce, Thomas says that he still has several milestones he wants to reach, including a solo Grammy and more plaques. “It’s about continuing to outdo myself creatively and I want to really create my own sounds that will dominate radio,” he says.
As he closes out a forever memorable year, Leon will continue to be a musical force of nature towards the albums of superstars but now he’s geared to join them on the charts with the release of his long-awaited EP due out early next year.
“I’m a big stickler on the business and making sure that I’m putting out the music in ways that can be advantageous to my old self. I want to look back and say, “Alright, I made some smart decisions as a businessman as well as a creative.” That’s kind of hard to do sometimes when you’re in a rush, so I’m taking my time, and honestly, I feel like that might be annoying to my fans, but I think it’s very important for me in the long run. I just want to be happy with all of my decisions.”
