Info for No Excuse
Joo Kraus is Joo Kraus. What sounds so obvious is by no means the case these days, because in the mercantile everyday life of the music industry, names are often reduced to brands. Not so with Joo Kraus. The fact that the trumpeter from Ulm made music history and earned himself a legendary reputation worldwide with the acid jazz duo Tab Two in the 1990s is just as important to him as his proverbial activity in such diverse fields as krautrock, jazz, hip-hop, Latin, ambient and singer/songwriter. For his new album ‘No Excuse’, only one question counts: What do I have to say today? After almost forty years of travelling through almost all the vegetation zones of music, Joo Kraus no longer needs any explanations. The music can simply be what it is: one hundred per cent Joo Kraus.
Crossing genre boundaries and dissolving stylistic labels - that is Joo Kraus' great passion. The multi-award-winning trumpeter lives out this passion to the full with his new album NO EXCUSE! Music that is sometimes reminiscent of the rock of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, sometimes of the soul of the Commodores and sometimes of the psychedelic vocals of Pink Floyd. The whole album is a mix of genres and moods that is one thing above all else: fun!
The songs are colourful, diverse, exciting, experimental, far removed from musical convention and yet unmistakable - totally Joo Kraus! NO EXCUSE!
While Joo's earlier albums focussed on jazz groove, things are now getting rockier. In particular, jazz rock, indie, alternative rock and some pop elements take up a lot of space.
Excuses and apologies can always be found, says Joo Kraus, but sometimes they are simply out of place! Joo also carries these mind games through light and heavy themes on the album. Most of the tracks focus on the here and now. They often deal with perseverance and willpower in the face of negative things in life that try to throw you off track and take away your hope. Joo's motto is: get up, keep looking ahead, no matter what - NO EXCUSE!!! Joo wants nothing but positivity in life: to surround himself with good people, a roof over his head and simply good vibes.
