Info for The Bruckner Symphonies, Vol. 7 - Organ Transcriptions
In the series “Anton Bruckner Project: The Symphonies,” on the occasion of Anton Bruckner's upcoming 200th birthday (September 4, 2024), Hansjörg Albrecht dedicates himself to the composer's symphonic work in a very personal way: he plays organ transcriptions of the complete symphonies cycle in places where Bruckner worked during his lifetime. Volume 7 with the popular 7th Symphony in E major was written on the organ of the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, exactly in the city in which Bruckner's Seventh had a triumphant premiere, the first truly resounding one by Bruckner, who was then over 60 years old. In this production, the Seventh sounds in the organ version by Erwin Horn and is supplemented by the Bruckner window “Te Deum” by the Aachen composer Philipp Maintz and by Hansjörg Albrecht’s own transcription of the “Perger Prelude”.
