Carolin No's story is one of great love: of two people for each other. Of songs full of light and shadow, open wishes and silent doubts. Of lyrics with depth. Of constant creative change. Carolin and Andreas Obieglo have been living this love to the full for 20 years - and on their current tour they are doing so more excitingly than ever.

The music builds on the multifaceted songs of the new album "ON & ON": It is music that thrives on the intimacy of a duo that is perfectly attuned to one another, but sounds much bigger. At the same time, these performances offer everything that has helped the duo build a loyal fan base and bring them over two million streams: moving words, the interplay between quiet and hymn-like moments and Carolin's voice, which sounds very big in the fast songs and very close in the ballads.

The stylistic album opens up in all directions, ranging from dub and electro-rock to folk. The audiophile arrangements were developed in long nightly sessions in the so-called "recording box", a soundproof booth measuring less than four square meters. Here, tabla samples were combined with a range of analog and soft synths, and field recordings had just as much of a place as a tenor horn interlude. The late, focused work in a place that was acoustically sealed off from the outside world like a soft air bubble gave the music an almost dreamlike atmosphere. Although: If ON&ON is indeed a dream, then it is a dynamic one with many unexpected twists. "The Streets of the Past" features passionate guitars over smoldering Latin rhythms, "My Revolution" is carried by springy house beats and with the classic "Da pacem, Domine" the journey comes to an inward-looking finale with quiet tones. A little studio magic closes the circle: the last notes of the album correspond to the first and you could have ON&ON, in keeping with the title, play in an endless loop.

Behind the name Carolin No are Carolin and Andreas Obieglo. The charismatic duo have composed and produced fourteen albums in recent years and played hundreds of concerts at home and abroad. You could list all the awards they have won or quote the enthusiastic voices of Stern, Kulturspiegel or the specialist press, who see the two at an "absolute top level" (Musikwoche) or as "audiophile greats" (Stereoplay).

But that would only be half the truth. Because Carolin and Andreas are characterized by their authenticity and straightforwardness on stage and in life, one should not hide what makes this duo so special: that they don't let themselves be bent, live their music and sing about life - and are therefore so incredibly honest, emotional and real on stage and in their songs. And that the two songwriters have no intention of resting on their laurels - they are working with passion and full force on a new studio album, which will be released in autumn 2023.

Die musik von carolin no ist geprägt von der unverwechselbaren kristallklaren und dennoch samtig-warmen stimme von carolin obieglo, der virtuosität des multiinstrumentalisten andreas obieglo und den außergewöhnlichen kompositionen und sensiblen arrangements der beiden vollblutmusiker, die sich in keine schublade sortieren lassen.
