Info for NeBeLNeST (Remastered)
NeBeLNeST emerged with a bang out of France, with an excellent first album in 1998 and a second well received album in 2002. An instrumental quartet of keyboards, guitar, bass and drums, on their third album, Nebelnest add more elements of found-sound, noise, improvisation and dissonance to their uniquely post-punk take on dark symphonic rock, updating and punishing that sound beyond recognizable and reaching a whole new audience with it as well.
NeBeLNeST are one of the most adventurous and energetic young bands to emerge on the international post-rock / avant-progressive scene in recent years. The young French band is noted for its dark symphonic rock music influenced by King Crimson, Pulsar & Shylock, laced with psychedelia and improvisation, and played with a riveting level of energy and intensity that 70's bands never even considered! Nova Express, their second album, is produced by Bob Drake of the 5uu’s and Thinking Plague, and has recorded solo and other albums for the ReR label. Drake’s distinctive production techniques are a perfect match for NeBeLNeST, emphasizing and augmenting the wide dynamic range of the band’s dark, mesmerizing sound.
Recorded in 1998, the band’s first album, the self-titled NeBeLNeST, was released in 1999 by the American label Laser’s Edge. The band released two further albums, both on Cuneiform Records, in 2002 (NoVa eXPReSS) and 2006 (ZePTO). The group continued to work on recordings but released nothing further and their cessation came in 2013.

NeBeLNeST
formed in 1997, consisting of Michael Anselmi (drums), Cyril Malderez (guitar), Gregory Tejedor (bass), and Olivier Tejedor (keys). They released two albums with this lineup: their self-titled debut in 1999 and the Bob Drake-produced NoVa eXPReSS in 2002. In 2006 they released their third album, ZePTO, which photographed a transition in the band lineup, as outgoing guitarist Malderez appears on roughly half the tracks and temporary guitarist Sebastien Carmona appears on the rest. Since then, the band has settled on guitarist Matthiew Sassier and guitarist/saxophonist Julien Wack to replace Malderez. This new lineup is currently working on a new album.
NeBeLNeST's music is a high-energy mix of multiple styles of progressive rock, blending a prog-metal influenced drums and bass with psychedelic guitar and symphonic keyboards. The rhythm section is clearly in control, with intense drumming and distorted, almost zeuhl-like bass dominating most pieces. The band is clearly not fond of repeating itself, as they constantly shift and progress throughout each piece. NeBeLNeST should appeal to all fans of energetic, interesting, and innovative music.
