Biographie Giovanni Palombo
Giovanni Palombo Guitar player, composer and concert-artist, Giovanni works in the area of the crossing acoustic music performing as a soloist of contemporary acoustic fingerstyle guitar as well as in different jazz-world wide oriented ensembles like the Acoustic Trio (guitar, vibraphone and accordion), or the Camera Ensemble Quartet, both based on original instrumental music in which jazz, folk reminescence and improvisation converge with a touch of full mediterranean melodies. As solo acoustic guitar performer Palombo plays in his very melodic style, jazz armonies blended with more dynamic fragments, also using his very own tapping and percussive techniques. Giovanni also plays in different duos, for example with the clarinet player Gabriele Mirabassi, or the percussion player Andrea Piccioni or the singer Clea Cotroneo in a duo blues oriented called “Blues Acustico”. He usually plays in the jazz-world clubs and festivals (European Jazz Festival, Fandango Jazz Festival, Edenkoben Guitar Festival, International Guitar Meeting of Sarzana, Verviers Festival de la Guitare among the others). Giovanni compose music for TV series documentaries (“Geo&Geo”, “Voyager”, Rai Trade) and the cinematographic label Fandango recently selected some of Palombo’s music for the movie “L’orizzonte degli eventi”, also selected at the 2005 Cannes Festival. Giovanni’s last CDs released is “Folk Frontiera”(2006 Wonderland, Germany) with Feliciano Zacchia (accordion), Francesco Lo Cascio (vibes) and Gabriele Mirabassi (clarinet) as a guest in some tracks. “Duos & Trios, Guitar Dialogues”( 2003, Acoustic Music Records) was recorded with many musicians as guests. Giovanni teaches to the Ciac School of Music in Rome, Italy, as guitar professor and by workshops. He is an active columnist for the magazine “Chitarre”.
