Info for Sharks and Butterflies

Why make noise when you can manipulate silence? And odd thing to say perhaps but if anybody can make a noise (and they pretty much can) trapping silence inside exquisite sonic bubbles take a whole different set of skills. But that is what Mr Dog The Bear continues to excel at. Already you could level an accusation of my writing erring on the side of pretentious, and not for the first time, but some music just makes you reach for very “out there” ways of describing things. When presented with three, middle-class white kids with guitars and an extensive Oasis record collection, such predictable and everyday music can be described in predictable and everyday terms. The sort of music made by Mr Dog The Bear requires whole different approaches.

"But for all its ambiguity, it is heart-achingly beautiful and elegantly composed. Sometimes you have to just forget about understanding something and just bathe in the afterglow of its exquisite charms and it doesn’t get more sonically charming than this.” (The Swindonian)

Mr Dog the Bear

Mr Dog the Bear
Even if you haven’t heard of Mr Dog The Bear, it is possible that you may have hear his music. Having been making exploratory and adventurous, genre-spanning music under this name for more than eight years now, his creations are ready for re-evalution and are being re-issued by discerning Italian label Luminol Records.

The mysterious Mr Dog The Bear admits that he considers himself to be a collaborative story teller, mostly limiting himself to instrumental music to convey emotions and moods which reflect the chosen concept.

Each album has its story to tell, starting with the debut work "Sharks And Butterflies" an album that explores lying, cheating and living with the choices we make.

His second album,"Ghosts," followed closely behind and concerned itself with the human psyche and the way that we perceive ourselves and how we imagine others might see us from the outside.

Transhumanism, which began as a personal project with ideas being quite sporadic, followed, and eventually coincided with work on the feature film "Symbiotic". This movie revolves around the lives of people in the not-too-distant future who not only have to deal with the dramas in their human relationships, but also the impact of Artificial Intelligence upon their work and personal lives. Transhumanism mirrors the movie and features lyrics written by A.I. as well as a very human poem written from the perspective of A.I.

The most recent work (2021), "The Night Moving Company", wonders about peoples need to escape from their daily lives. Night Moving Companies are real companies which exist in Japan and help people to disappear completely so they can begin a new life without fear of being found.
