Vom Solo zum Cembalo: Dies ist die erste vollständige Einspielung der Sonaten, Partiten und Suiten von Bach in der Cembalo-Transkription von Gustav Leonhardt.
Die Adaption der Werke, die ursprünglich für ein Solo-Streichinstrument (Violine und Violoncello) geschrieben wurden, erfordert das Können eines Meisters: Gustav Leonhardt dokumentiert sowohl sein tiefes Verständnis für Bachs Klangwelt als auch für die instrumentalen Möglichkeiten des Cembalos. Seine Transkriptionen sind durchdrungen von komplexen Kontrapunkten und Harmonien.
Bach selbst hat viele seiner eigenen Werke und auch die anderer Komponisten für verschiedene Instrumente transkribiert. Das genaue Studium der Resultate gab Leonhardt den visionären Mut, seine eigenen Transkriptionen zu schreiben. Er kommentierte dies in der für ihn typischen bescheidenen Weise: »Ich denke, dass Bach mir die Tatsache verziehen hätte, dass ich beschloss, seine Werke zu arrangieren. Ob er mir verziehen hätte, dass ich sie in dieser Form arrangiert habe, bleibt strittig.«
Der italienische Cembalist Roberto Loreggian hat bereits eine umfangreiche Diskographie mit Werken von Frescobaldi, Gabrieli, Vivaldi, Galuppi, Händel und anderen Komponisten vorgelegt.

He has recorded numerous CDs for record labels such as Chandos, Tactus, Arts... which have been internationally acclaimed. He has recorded the complete collection of keyboard music by G. Frescobaldi for the label 'Brilliant' winning the 'National Award for Classic Music Track 2009', for the same label he recorded the complete keyboard music of A. Gabrieli, the complete Harpsichord concerts of B. Galuppi and the harpsichord music of G. F. Haendel. His recordings devoted to harpsichord music by B. Pasquini (Chandos Chaconne) and by G. B. Ferrini (Tactus) received the award 'Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik'. He teaches at the Conservatory 'C. Pollini' in Padova, Italy.
