Immer wieder gelingt es Mime Brinkmann, die Menschen auf besondere Weise mit ihrem Spiel zu berühren. Ihre Interpretation der Bach-Suiten wurde durch ihre musikalische Lebensreise geformt. Seit über 25 Jahren Spezialistin für historische Aufführungspraxis und Solistenpreisträgerin (Brügge und Brescia), ist sie in über 40 Ländern bereits mit Pionieren der Alten Musik und mit mehreren der bedeutendsten Ensembles aufgetreten. Sie ist als Solistin und Ensemble-Partner international sehr gefragt.
„Sie sind die Quintessenz von Bachs Schaffen, und Bach selbst ist die Quintessenz aller Musik.“ sagte einst Pablo Casals über die Cello-Suiten von Johann Sebastian Bach. Wenn diese Suiten in historischer Aufführungspraxis gespielt werden von jemandem, über den die Zeitschrift The Strad sagt: „Her phrasing sounds as natural as breathing…“, weckt das mehr als nur Neugierde.

Mime Yamahiro Brinkmann
After gaining her performance diploma on the modern cello at Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, Mime Yamahiro Brinkmann specialized in historical performance on the violoncello and viola da gamba at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, graduating with a soloist diploma. She was a prizewinner at the first ‘Concorso Internazionale Romano Romanini per strumenti ad arco’ (Brescia, Italy; chairman Gustav Leonhardt) in 1995 and the first cellist to win the soloist prize at the Concours Musica Antiqua Brugge (Belgium) in 1996. She is active as a soloist and as a member of leading early music groups worldwide, participating in tours, festivals, opera productions and recordings with La Petite Bande, Bach Collegium Japan, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Apollo’s Fire – the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra, Concerto Copenhagen, Paul Hillier’s Theatre of Voices and Barokksolistene, among others. She appears on a number of recordings, and in 2016 released ‘Cello Rising’ (BIS-2214), with colourful repertoire from the first 100 years of cello history. Mime Yamahiro Brinkmann also gives masterclasses and coaches orchestras at festivals around the world. She currently lives in Sweden, where she is a member of the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble and teaches the baroque cello at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
