Ravel was very happy with his second Violin Sonata, written between 1923 and 1927, whose second movement adopts the Afro-American blues. This wonderful sonata is characterised throughout by the contrast between the consistently fairly dry piano part and the smooth, melodic violin.

The Sonata for Violin and Cello, written between 1920 and 1922, is dedicated to Debussy, who had died in 1918, and the work could be thought of as an elegy for the composer. There are references to Debussy's final chamber works.

A complex and emotional work, the magnificent Piano Trio of 1914 contains four movements all full of exoticism and colour.

Klara Flieder
has been professor for violin at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg since 2005. Lectureships and guest professorships at the University of Music in Vienna and Graz. Master classes in Austria, Sweden, Spain, Italy, USA, China. In summer talented young musicians have the opportunity to attend a master class under Klara Flieder at the Allegro Vivo Summer Academy in Horn, a city near Vienna.

Concerts as soloist and chamber musician in Europe, China and USA. Performances at festivals such a Kuhmo Festival, Finland, Carinthischer Sommer, Midsummer Music Festival, Sweden, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, USA, Narnia Festival, Italy. Member of the Flieder-Trio, “Leschetizky-Trio Wien” and “Hyperion Ensemble Salzburg”. Numerous CD recordings for EMI, Dabringhaus & Grimm, Extraplatte and Preiser Records.

Christophe Pantillon
was born in Neuchâtel into a Swiss-american family of musicians. He started playing the cello with J.-P. Guy and Elena Botez before continuing his studies with Heinrich Schiff at the Music Academy in Basel, with Valentin Erben at the Vienna Music University and with Ralph Kirshbaum at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He has attended numerous master classes, in particular with Mischa Maisky.

Mr. Pantillon has been playing chamber music ever since his childhood. He moved to Vienna in 1992, and in 1998, he founded the aron quartet, quartet-in-residence of the Arnold Schönberg Center. He is also principal cellist of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, member of the "Leschetizky Trio Vienna" and gives regularly duo concerts with his wife, the violinist Klara Flieder. Christophe David Pantillon has given regular performances, both as soloist and as chamber musician, in Vienna (Musikverein, Konzerthaus), Salzburg (Mozarteum), New York (Carnegie Hall), London (Wigmore Hall), Washington (Library of Congress), Tokyo (Casals Hall, Oji Hall), Moscow (Tchaikovsky Conservatory), Buenos Aires (Teatro Colon), Madrid (Teatro Real), Zurich (Tonhalle), Prag (Suk Saal), in Paris, Amsterdam, Warsaw, Saint-Petersburg, Helsinki,.. as well as in numerous festivals (Festival Menuhin Gstaad, Festival de Radio France (Montpellier), Festival International de Quatuors à Cordes du Lubéron, Styriarte Graz, wien modern, Festival de Kuhmo (Finnland), Festival Cervantino (Mexico), Festival Musical de Santo Domingo, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival (USA),"Sounding Jerusalem", Festival de la Roque d’Anthéron, «Mostly Music» Chicago,etc...

Christophe Pantillon has been privileged to work with such great artists as Philippe Entremont, Bruno Canino, Marcello Viotti, Sir Neville Marriner, Sir Roger Norrington, Peter Schreier, Thomas Quasthoff, Oleg Maisenberg, with members of the Alban Berg Quartet, the Chilingirian Quartet, as well as members of the Berlin and the Vienna Philharmonic. In 2006, Christophe Pantillon took part in a "Soirée Beethoven" with the actor Gérard Depardieu. He has given master classes in Switzerland, USA (Yale University in Norfolk), France (Académie international de Nice), Ireland, Switzerland, Spain and India. He is currently teaching at the Vienna School of Music.

Massimo Giuseppe Bianchi
After studying at the Music Academy, Massimo Giuseppe Bianchi continued to study under Bruno Canino’s guidance and specialized in chamber repertoire following courses by Franco Rossi, Maureen Jones, the Trio di Trieste and the Trio di Milano.

He studied composition with Vittorio Fellegara and Bruno Zanolini, besides attending a master class held by György Ligeti.

As a pianist he is a guest of numerous musical institutions and prestigious festivals, amongst others we may mention: Amici della Musica in Campobasso, Latina’s Campus Internazionale di Musica, the Vercelli Società del Quartetto, the Centro Studi Musicali “Ferruccio Busoni” in Empoli, “Settembre Musica” in Turin, the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, and the Associazione Musicale Lucchese.

He has taken part in many radio programmes performing music live, such as ‘La Stanza della musica’ on RAI Radio 3 , Radio2 in Italian Switzerland, and others. He has appeared as a guest on the well-known RAI 3 radio programme “Uomini e Profeti”(Men and Prophets) in a series of programmes he devised called “Il suono dell’ineffabile” (The Sound of the Indescribable) (with Gabriella Caramore and Pierangelo Sequeri).

Amongst his many artistic collaborations attention should be drawn to those with Bruno Canino, Antonio Ballista, Luca Lombardi, Michelle Makarski, Mariana Sirbu, Guido Corti, Lorna Windsor Luca Avanzi, the Aron Quartett, the Interpreti Italiani, and the Mantua Chamber Orchestra.

In his concerts he often tackles works which are rarely performed and which require outstanding virtuoso zeal, ranging from Goldberg’s Bach Variations to Jean Barraquè’s Sonata; on several occasions he has performed the complete series of piano transcriptions of Beethoven’s nine symphonies as transcribed by Franz Liszt, as well as many works dedicated to him.

Massimo Giuseppe Bianchi is also a versatile improviser; what is particularly important in this sphere is his collaboration with the great Italian jazz musician Enrico Pieranunzi with whom he holds numerous two-piano concerts, with Paolo Damiani and with the French clarinettist Louis Sclavis.

In 2011 he took part, on the invitation of Michele Campanella, in the prestigious “Liszt Marathon” at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, performing works by the Hungarian composer.

He has made an unabridged recording on two CDs of the piano works by Giorgio Federico Ghedini which came out in 2011 and the violin and piano works by the same composer with Emy Bernecoli came out in 2013 for the label Naxos. His latest work as composer is the opera “Il Rossini Perduto” (The Lost Rossini) with libretto by Luigi Ballerini and set design by Marco Gastini, which previewed in November 2012 at Palazzo Reale in Milan.

His new cd has been released in February 2014 with the first volume of the complete works for violin and piano by Ottorino Respighi performed in duo with the violinist Emy Bernecoli for the label Naxos.

His latest recording for Naxos includes, in two records, the complete works for violin and piano by Ottorino Respighi and Riccardo Pick-Mangiagalli, with Emy Bernecoli on the violin. In 2015 a CD was released for the german label CPO, with Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco two piano quintets.

His new CD 'Around Bach' is released in October 2016 for the label Decca.
