Trio Eiger
Biography Trio Eiger
Trio Eiger
founded in 2020, consists of three musicians: Filipa Nunes, clarinet, Maria Clément, viola, and Kateryna Tereshchenko, piano, who all joined the Zurich Opera House Orchestra in 2013. United by their love for chamber music, three have played together in a wide variety of formations, and found a trio of clarinet viola and piano, that may seem unexpected at first glance, as the viola and clarinet are more or less in the same register, particularly appealing. Numerous composers from different eras have written works for this instrumentation, from most famous Kegelstatt Trio of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to György Kurtág, whose Hommage à R. Sch was written in 1990. Many of them refer to Schumann and his work Märchenerzählungen as Schumann’s fairy tales wonderfully demonstrate the unexpectedly wide range of timbral possibilities offered by this combination of instruments.
