Biography Malte Müller & Werner Heinrich Schmitt

Malte Müller
born in Lichtenfels (Bavaria), received his fundamental musical training in the boys' choir "Regensburger Domspatzen". After successfully completing his law degree, he studied singing with Rudolf Piernay and Alejandro Ramírez at the Mannheim University of Music. He was significantly influenced by the Puerto Rican tenor Edgardo Zayas, who taught him the technique of bel canto. Masterclasses with Gundula Janowitz, Christoph Prégardien and Hans-Peter Blochwitz gave him further impetus.

Malte Müller has performed as a soloist with a wide variety of orchestras and ensembles (including the Zurich Symphony Orchestra, Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, Regensburg Philharmonic Orchestra, L'arpa festante, La Banda, Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester, Ansbach Chamber Orchestra, Karlsbad Symphony Orchestra, Minsk Symphony Orchestra, Schönbrunn Palace Ensemble Vienna, Beethoven Academy Krakow). His repertoire on the concert stage includes the great works from baroque to late romanticism, as well as German film hits, operetta arias and highlights from classic musicals. Concert engagements have taken him to many cities and concert halls (including the Tonhalle Zurich, KKL Lucerne, Herkulessaal Munich, Philharmonie Essen, Kaisersaal Kloster Banz). Malte Müller appeared on the opera stage in the world premiere of the opera Prometheus by Graham Buckland at Krumlov Castle in the Czech Republic (Hermes), in the world premiere of the opera Unreine Tragödien und aussätzige Dramatiker by Timo Jouko Herrmann at the Städtische Bühnen Heidelberg (tenor roles), in the opera Der Wildschütz by Albert Lortzing (Baron Kronthal). In August 2016, he made his Wagner debut at the Kulturwald festival with the Beethoven Academy Krakow under the direction of Andreas Spering in Rheingold. The Süddeutsche Zeitung commented: " ... Malte Müller shines as a submissive mime".

Malte Müller also particularly enjoys devoting himself to art song. He works together with Steinway Artist Hans-Dieter Bauer and Götz Payer, among others.
