Flukten
The All-star band Fluktens musicians are adding color to the new Norwegian jazz. When the band plays, they create musical patterns only available to a genuine community, according to reviewers. Their genuine feel and sound might be explained by the fact that Flukten, meaning escape, started jamming during the pandemic lockdown – as an urge to keep playing and experimenting.

Flukten is a jazz band with echoes of folk music, rock, rhythm n blues. The bandmembers comes from some of the most well-acclaimed bands in Norwegian jazz the last years. Fluktens debut album Velkommen Håp (meaning Welcome Hope) was nominated for Spellemannsprisen 2021 in the jazz category.

The quartet played their first concert at Victoria Jazzvenue where they convinced the critics:

“Flukten impresses with an openness, a joy of playing, an energy and a power...” – Johan Hauksnes for Salt Peanuts

“Their music soars. Flukten flies. The audience’s excitement makes for an encore, and I’m already looking forward to their album.” – Arild R. Andersen for JazziNorge

Fluktens musical references are John Scofield, Joe Lovano, Per «Texas» Johansson, Salif Keita og Paul Motian.

At the band’s concerts, all spontaneous ideas are cultivated and explored. They promise the audience: “Flukten gives you dirty jazz for dancing and soft and finely tuned jazz suited for contemplation. This is music which celebrates life with unimaginable possibilities!”.
