Rémi Panossian
(born 1983, Montpellier, France), started playing piano at the age of seven. He was only ten years old when he attended a Michel Petrucciani concert and got hooked on jazz. Rémi studied at the Montpellier Jazz School, not only learning musical theory and the history of jazz, but also improvisation at which he excelled. He took part in many master classes and had the good fortune to interact with such musical greats as Stéphane Kochoyan, Steve Coleman and Andy Milne.
After playing with writer Régine Détembel in Jazz Fest Wien 2000, the prestigious Vienna Jazz Festival, Rémi moved to Toulouse to further his musical studies. Within two years he graduated from the Toulouse College of Music where he received a National School of Music Certificate in Jazz and Improvised Music. Rémi taught jazz piano for 4 years at the Enfants du Jazz Workshop and currently teaches at the International Trio Session in Cape Breton when his touring schedule allows
In 2002 Rémi met the outstanding double bass player, Julien Duthu and the two started what has proven to be a fruitful collaboration with the release of “No End” an MP3 album in 2005, and in 2008 the CD, “Two”, released on the Plus Loin label for harmonia mundi. The duo received a Best New Talent award from L’Académie du Jazz, the French Jazz Academy.
After 2 duet cds, many concerts, and great collaborations (Aldo Romano, Francesco Bearzatti, Pierrick Pedron, Rick Margitza…) Remi Panossian, began the trio adventure on the end of 2009 with Maxime Delporte on double bass and Frederic Petitprez on drums.
The trio has released the album “Add fiction” on january 2011 which had a great reception from international press and audience. These three musicians are friends for a long time and the trio became immediatly a real Band ! Their unity is a wonderful strengh for their music which has been mostly described as being both Lyrical and Energetic.
The trio has been elected “Revelation of the year 2011″ by the french radio TSF JAZZ! and they’ve been invited to play a song at Olympia Hall Paris for the ” You and the night and the Music ” show.
In Only two Years the trio has performed on a lot of famous stages in France , In Venezuela, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Algeria…and made more than 40 concerts in Asia ( Tokyo jazz festival (Japan), Jarasum jazz festival( South Korea), Taichung jazz festival ( Taiwan) Nanjing jazz festival ( China)…
The trio has just composed and recorded a new album on last april ,and has already planned many gigs for the next Year.
Maxime Delporte
was born in 1976 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He arrived in Marseille, France, in 1985. After having studied piano and flute, he played guitar, drums and trumpet, and then chose double bass for principal instrument. After directing a big band for 3 years, he comes to Toulouse where he participates in several projects with different musicians : Abdu Salim, Christian « TonTon » Salut, Pierre Dayraud, Jean-Marc Padovani… He has performed in french Jazz Festivals like « Nancy Jazz Pulsatons », « Jazz in Marciac », « Jazz sur son 31 », « Millau en Jazz », and in other countries ( Spain, Italia, Tunisia, Algeria, Marroco, Portugal…).
Also a composer, the first album of his own band : « Stabat Akish » has been released in april 2009 on John Zorn’s Label : Tzadik (New York).
Frederic Petitprez
was born in 1981 in Nice.he started playing drums when he settles in toulouse at the age of sixteen .three years later he plays in the souillac jazz festival with his first jazz trio.
In 2002,he graduated from the Toulouse College of Music and in the meantime he studied in the national jazz school in toulouse(music’hall).
One year later he was part of the national jazz band of this school that was conducted by eric Lareine and the drummer françois Merville and made his first national tour.This same year he begins to play in the Abdu Salim Sextet and started to work with the american drummer Leon Parker.
Since 2011 he is also teaching drums in the biggest jazz school in Toulouse called music’halle(job).
In the meantime the Artichaut Orkestra was created.That’s the beginning of a long creative partnership and a signature in the John Zorn label(tzadik)
He’s also played with Ricky Ford,Damon Brown,Pierrick Pedron,Ugonna Okegwo,Jerome Barde,frederik koster,Nicole johannteg.
Since 2008 he’s been playing in many international jazz festivals:Caracas jazz fest(Venezuela),Taichung jazz fest(Taiwan),Jarasum jazz fest(South Corea),China,Japan(Tokyo jazz festival, jozenji festival),Belgium,France(jazz 31,jazz à sete,jazz à vannes,duc des lombards,etc…), Portugal,Brasil …
