Biography Vivian Buczek
Vivian Buczek
is one of the most outstanding and engaging jazz singers of today with a remarkable feeling for the jazz idiom.
Vivian is a truly dynamic and emotional singer who puts her soul and emphasis on rhythm and blues but also comprehends the sincerity of story telling in slow ballads and always puts the audience and listeners in first place.
Vivian has established a singing career with a string of albums from 2000 to 2024. On her latest worldwide critically acclaimed album ROOTS (2022) she is joined by one of the worlds’s leading saxophone players Seamus Blake. Vivian’s portrait is all about life and musical roots where she celebrates some of her main sources of inspiration that have made a lasting impression over the years.
On Vivian’s new upcoming album LE GRAND MICHEL she celebrates one of her favourite composers, the great French composer, piano player and conductor Michel Legrand. On this album she interprets some of her favourite songs in her own unique way with bold and dynamic arrangements written by Swedish piano player and arranger Martin Sjöstedt. Vivian and Martin are accompanied by the fantastic Danish and Swedish rhythm section, bassist Jesper Bodilsen and drummer Zoltan Csörsz.
“Michel Legrand has always been a great inspiration for me and I have long dreamed of doing a project where I get to interpret his music. Legrands music in combination with beautiful lyrics written by Alan & Marilyn Bergman stand for what I mainly want to convey to my audience; romance, dynamism, melancholy but also blues and swing.”
Vivian’s special guests on this album are the Danish harmonica player Mathias Heise and the Swedish trumpet player Peter Asplund who is also the composer and arranger of the album’s title track LE GRAND MICHEL.
"Vivian is a vocalist who truly knows and comprehends the tradition and who proudly carries the torch of female jazz singers.”
