Info for Here And Now

'Here And Now', an imaginative and heart worming duo set between internationally known singer Marilena Paradisi and bassist Bob Nieske, contains a treasure chest of twelve songs of absolute brilliance, whose composers are, in order of execution: Bobby Hutcherson, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Astrud Gilberto, Gordon Parks, Henry Mancini, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Sam Jones, Charles Mingus, Carla Bley, Billy Strayhorn, and Frank Loesser.

Highlights include Wayne Shorter's 'Black Nile', Chick Corea's 'Crystal Silence', Charles Mingus' 'Duke Ellington's Sound Of Love', and Frank Loesser's 'Never Will I Mary',just to mention a few.

Marilena Paradisi, is one of the most committed vocalists on the improvisation front. Her expression ranges from jazz to contemporary music, and she is a great researcher in the use of the voice within experimental and improvisational fields. Not only acclaimed by international critics for her interpretative skills and her grasp of the text, but also for her highly original and varied projects. She boasts collaborations of the highest level, names that include drummer Eliot Zigmund, pianist Kirk Lightsey, bassist Pietro Leveratto, pianist/composer Renato Sellani, trombonist Dino Piana, and singer/composer Michiko Hirayama.

Bob Nieske is a true giant of the double bass and an integral part of jazz history. Rightly considered as a refined composer and player with an impressive CV, which includes 13 years spent as Jimmy Giuffre's bass player from 1979 to 1992. His presence on Giuffre's three Soul Note recordings are of particular note.
