Info for SET
In recent months, British pianist Joe Webb has dramatically risen to international acclaim with the release of “Collblanc,” his debut EP alongside his new trio featuring Will Sach and Sam Jesson. This release garnered praise from UK Vibe, highlighting Webb’s “successful fusion of stride piano’s age-old traditions with the modern era, marking him as the quintessence of jazz’s current zeitgeist, whose blend of traditional and contemporary jazz piano styles showcases an extraordinary blend of audacity and innovative swagger”.
His second EP, “SET,” due for release in May, draws its inspiration from the chaotic beauty of a theatre’s set, which serves as a compelling prelude to his highly anticipated album set to launch on Edition Records in October 2024.
Webb’s music, a potent mix of Art Tatum’s virtuosity, The Bad Plus’s bold innovations, and the spirited essence of Britpop, creates a steadfast fusion that commands widespread respect. “SET” exemplifies Webb’s significance as an artist whose remarkable skill and visionary approach not only captivate but also inspire awe among his peers. This EP exudes confidence and pride, offering a rich and unapologetic experience that engages and challenges listeners.
